Water the orchids a week after they brought them home from the flower shop. Then water it no more than once in 7-14 days. Water for orchids should be clean, filtered, and boiled. Note that it is convenient to use distilled water. During the flowering period, orchids need to be sprayed with water very carefully, trying not to touch the flowers. Brown spots appear on the petals from the water, which reduces the decoration and damages the plant.

Choose the right vase for orchids

If you decide to buy an orchid, keep in mind that it is better to choose transparent vases for orchids. This will allow you to control the condition of the roots of the plant․ The size of the vase is also very important. If it is very large for orchids, then the soil will not dry well, which, ultimately, will kill the root․ But a small vase size will lead to permanent damage to the root system. However, in addition to the vase for orchids, it is also extremely important to increase fertilizers․ During the blossoming period, the petals and roots of orchids are actively growing and at this period the plant needs nitrogen (N). But during the flowering stage, it is necessary to change the fertilizer. In this case, the fertilizer should contain more phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) than nitrogen (N).
